Part 1: Theory
Multiple choice section and video-based hazard perception section.
In order to pass Part 1, you must pass both sections.
This is a computerised touch screen examination lasting a maximum of 90 minutes and consisting of 100 questions, across four bands:
1. Road procedure
2. Traffic signs and signals, car control, pedestrians and mechanical knowledge
3. Driving test, disabilities, law
4. Publications, instructional technique
You have the opportunity to flag and review questions before submitting your final answer.
Once you have completed the multiple choice section, there will be a short break of up to three minutes before the video-based hazard perception section of the Theory test commences.
Pass requirements:
- Multiple choice: You need to obtain a minimum 85% for the multiple choice section, having achieved a minimum of 80% in each of the four bands.
- Hazard perception: you must obtain a minimum of 57 out of a possible 75.
